UG admission without entrance exam — your 4 main paths
Not every student can or wants to clear CUET, JEE, NEET, or state-level entrance exams. In 2026, you have four completely legitimate paths to a UG degree without any entrance test — and some of these are from genuinely top-ranked institutions.
Path 1: Online UG degrees (best for working students or those who missed exams)
UGC-DEB approved online BBA, BCA, BCom, BSc, BA programs. Admission directly on 10+2 marks. No entrance exam. Valid for all further education (MBA, MCA, CA, UPSC) and employment.

Path 2: Open universities (cheapest option — starting ₹6K total)
Open universities offer genuine UG degrees at government-subsidised rates with no entrance exam. The degrees are fully valid for government jobs, CA, UPSC, and further education.
| University | NAAC | Courses | Fee (total) | Physical centre? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| IGNOU | A | BA ₹6K · BCom ₹12K · BCA ₹15K · BBA ₹15K · BSc ₹12K | Cheapest in India | ~3,000 study centres |

Path 3: IIT Madras BSc DS — no JEE, no entrance exam stress
The IIT Madras Online BSc in Data Science requires just a 10+2 pass and a qualifier exam (not JEE-level — basic maths and programming aptitude). Anyone can attempt it. No entrance coaching needed. It is widely considered the best non-JEE path to an IIT credential — NIRF #1 Engineering institution. Fee ~₹2–3L total.
Path 4: CUET for central university direct admission
CUET (Common University Entrance Test) is not an "entrance exam" in the traditional sense — there's no syllabus beyond Class 12. It replaces marks-based cutoffs for central universities (DU, BHU, JNU, Jamia, etc.). If you score 60–70 percentile in CUET, you can access courses at good central universities including Jamia Millia Islamia (NIRF #28 Mgmt), Delhi University SOL programs, and BHU.
